Co-Principal Investigator Branwen Williams (Environmental Science, Keck) and EnviroLab Asia’s inaugural postdoctoral fellow Kathryn Hargan were awarded a National Geographic grant to study Thai shrimp farm-mangrove ecosystems. Their main research question is: “Do mangrove forests reduce coastal aquaculture nutrient pollution while increasing carbon storage?” Funding for their research will start July 2018, and will build upon the work that faculty and students will begin in the May 2018 Clinic Trip to Thailand.
